Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals with the cognitive and communication skills to transmit dance skills and knowledge to others. At this level individuals are expected to apply theory and creative skills in different teaching environments and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex technical operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.
The job roles that relate to this qualification may include dance fitness instructor, dance teacher, or dance studio teacher or manager.

Units of competency in qualification
Some individual units of competency may have their own licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Users must check individual units of competency for licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements relevant to that unit.
Entry Requirements
Individuals must provide evidence of completing the following units of competency, or equivalent skills and knowledge:
- CUADTM412 Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of children in performing arts
- CUADTM413 Apply safe dance teaching methods
- CUADTM421 Teach basic dance techniques
- CUADTM431 Design and conduct dance learning program
- CUADTM441 Plan and conduct assessment activities for dance
- CUAWHS405 Provide a safe performing arts environment for children
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 15
- core units plus
- elective units, of which:
- at least 5 units must be selected from Group A
- of the remaining elective units:
- all may be from Group A and/or Group B
- up to 2 may be from this or any other currently endorsed Diploma or above training package qualification or accredited course
- 1 may be from this or any other currently endorsed Certificate IV or above training
package qualification or accredited course.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome.
