Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA) – SKILL ASSESSMENT(CHC)

ACWA is the skills-assessing authority for community services professionals applying to migrate to Australia under the following occupations listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).

ACWA (Australian Community Workers Association) is the skills-assessing authority for several community services occupations in Australia. These occupations include:

  1. Welfare Centre Manager (ANZSCO 134214)
  2. Welfare Worker (ANZSCO 272613)
  3. Community Worker (ANZSCO 411711)
  4. Disabilities Services Officer (ANZSCO 411712)
  5. Family Support Worker (ANZSCO 411713)
  6. Residential Care Officer (ANZSCO 411715)
  7. Youth Worker (ANZSCO 411716)

Skills Assessment Criteria for each occupation are as follows:

  1. Welfare Centre Manager (ANZSCO 134214):
  • A relevant qualification comparable to an Australian bachelor’s degree or higher in community services, human services, welfare, social work, social services management, social policy, or similar.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time post-qualification industry experience, including at least 1 year of experience in a welfare centre management role within the last 5 years.
  1. Welfare Worker (ANZSCO 272613):
  • ACWA accredited qualification (diploma or higher) or a recognized relevant qualification in community services.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Employment in the industry within the past 4 years, post-qualification, at an appropriate skill level.
  1. Community Worker (ANZSCO 411711):
  • ACWA accredited qualification (diploma or higher) or a recognized relevant qualification in community services.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Employment in the industry within the past 4 years, post-qualification, at an appropriate skill level.
  1. Disabilities Services Officer (ANZSCO 411712):
  • Relevant diploma or higher with a specialization in disability services, or ACWA accredited diploma or higher with a specialization in disability services.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Employment in the industry within the past 4 years, post-qualification, at an appropriate skill level.
  1. Family Support Worker (ANZSCO 411713):
  • Relevant diploma or higher with a specialization in community services or related field, or ACWA accredited diploma or higher.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Employment in the industry within the past 4 years, post-qualification, at an appropriate skill level.
  1. Residential Care Officer (ANZSCO 411715):
  • Relevant diploma or higher with a specialization in community services or related field, or ACWA accredited diploma or higher.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Employment in the industry within the past 4 years, post-qualification, at an appropriate skill level.
  1. Youth Worker (ANZSCO 411716):
  • Relevant diploma or higher with a specialization in youth work or related field, or ACWA accredited diploma or higher.
  • English language proficiency demonstrated through English language test results or other acceptable means.
  • Employment in the industry within the past 4 years, post-qualification, at an appropriate skill level.

In addition to meeting the qualification and English language requirements, applicants must also demonstrate currency in their knowledge and skills through recent employment or holding a qualification obtained within a certain timeframe.
